KATHARINE WILSON BAYER | kITTY

2024 Bio

Designer, Artist, Delight-Maker

Enamored with geography, landscape, and place-specific work, Kitty Bayer melds aesthetic design and functional goals to create architectural spaces that enrich and enliven. Architecture is spiritual, environmental, comunal, symbolic, and full of imagination. Guided by an insatiable curiosity about the interplay of form, materiality, color, and human experience, with openness and an emphasis on value, Kitty approaches each project with playful sincerity and a passion for constructing landscapes that captivate the senses.

Influenced early on by classical aesthetic theory and public art studies at New York University, Kitty’s framework for understanding draws from her experiences living and working in dynamic environments from Shanghai and Prague to Florence. Essential to Kitty’s development as a designer was conceptual architecture and installation work with Stewart Hicks and Alison Newmeyer of Design With Company after completing her Master of Architecture at the University of Illinois.

Returning to her birthplace, Kitty has designed homes in the Southwest for the last decade. In 2023, she established her studio in Austin,TX. Beyond architecture, Kitty pursues her passion for grasses and urban parks as Board President of Pease Park Conservancy. Space is place. Life is art.
